Community
Marshall ISD is always grateful for the support and interaction of the community of Marshall with our students. We believe that we can all make a world of difference in the lives of our students by encouraging students to work and focus on becoming part of creating an even better community. This section of the website is dedicated to the alumni, citizens, businesses and general Marshall community and to their involvement in our schools. Thank you and check back often for news and information regarding Marshall ISD's role in making Marshall truly a Maverick Family. Go Mavs!
WANT TO VOLUNTEER?
We are so thankful you have chosen to spend time volunteering within our District. Your work with our students and staff will enhance our schools in a substantial and positive way. When community members are present in our schools it shows our students that education is important to Marshall and the District has your support. To get started we wanted to share some information with you:
Who can become a Volunteer?
Any family member, guardian, community partner, or district employee at least 18 years of age and has completed the Marshall ISD Volunteer Application, provided a copy of their government issued identification and has been approved through a Criminal Background Check.
How often do I need to complete a volunteer application?
If you plan to volunteer, a new application must be completed every school year. Clearance is only valid from August to July of every new school year. Parents/Community Members are encouraged to submit their application at the beginning of every year or at least two weeks prior to supporting a specific school activity.
What disqualifies a person from volunteering in our district?
An applicant is disqualified* and cannot participate in volunteer opportunities if the applicant is found guilty, convicted, placed on deferred adjudication/community service, sentenced by the court in conjunction with a guilty sentence for/or has:
Sexual Offenses
Any Offense Against or Involving a Minor (Child)
Any Weapons related Offense
Any Abuse or Neglect related Offenses
Any Felony Convictions involving Delivery, Manufacturing, or Possession of substances
Any Drug or Alcohol related Felony Offenses
Any Active Warrant for Arrest
Any Pending Criminal Charges
OR any other acts as determined by the District as dangerous to staff, students, or District property.
*Criminal history dispositions that have been dismissed, pardoned, or expunged will not disqualify an applicant.
Do I need to complete a Volunteer Application to visit my student's campus or attend a field trip?
If you are coming on a MISD Campus to visit your student for lunch, to watch them in a performance, or attend an event you do not have to complete a volunteer application. You will have to check in/out at the front office of your student's campus and provide identification to be screened via Raptor.
If you are attending a field trip and NOT chaperoning (supervising/left alone with a child/children that is not your own) you do not have to complete an application. Please contact your child's campus related to ID screening via Raptor.
What volunteer opportunities are available?
Once approved, there are many different ways to serve, depending on your interests, availability and needs of the campus or district.
