Coach Hammett brings with him 23 years of coaching experience. He is a graduate of West Texas A&M University. Most recently, Coach Hammett has been the Assistant Athletic Director at Marshall ISD. He helped lead the Mavericks to the 2023 Class 5A Area round playoffs. Coach Hammett has also spent time coaching in Central Texas and DFW before arriving in Marshall in 2022. He made notable stops in Ennis, Corsicana, and Burleson Centennial. He has served as the Offensive Coordinator/Assistant Head Coach for 11 seasons. Coach Hammett is married to his wife Lauren, who currently serves as the District Coordinator of Special Education.
