Directors
The Mavettes are under the leadership of Mrs. Jordan Hounsel and assisted by Mrs. Haley Hockenberry.
Mrs. Hounsel was a Marshall Mavette herself from 2009-2012. Mrs. Hounsel grew up in Marshall, where she had danced since the age of 3. After Graduation, Mrs. Hounsel was chosen as a Trinity Valley Community College Cardette. As a Cardette, she had the privilege of traveling to perform throughout England, as well as many other events throughout Texas. After TVCC, Mrs. Hounsel graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2016 where she was a member of the UT Steel Dance Company.

Mrs. Hounsel has taught for several years, serving as the MJHS Dance Team Director in 2023. The JH team made history as they competed in their first competition as a program. Mrs. Hounsel is blessed to be given the opportunity to direct the Marshall Mavettes. The Mavettes are known for excellence in more than just dance, and Mrs. Hounsel strives to continue to push the core values that you find within each Mavette.
Haley Hockenberry is a 2017 graduate of Nacogdoches High School,where she served as Dragonette Captain her junior and senior years. She trained for 14 years at Venetia’s Studio of Performing Arts in Nacogdoches, TX and spent 1 year as a Senior Company member at the Academy of Gymnastics and Dance in Lufkin, TX, competing in a wide range of styles including jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, tap, and clogging. After high school, Haley was honored to become a member of the World Famous Kilgore College Rangerettes from 2017–2019. During her time on the 78th line, she had the incredible opportunity to travel and perform in New York, Florida, The Bahamas, and most notably Basel, Switzerland, where the team represented the United States in the 2018 Basel Military Tattoo. Since 2023, she has continued to serve the Rangerette organization as the 78th Line Representative on the Forevers Board, acting as a liaison between alumni and the current team. Haley went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry with a minor in Health Care Studies from the University of Southern California in 2021. She later earned a Master of Science in Medical Sciences from Texas A&M University in 2023, where she was also a choreographer and member of Dance Arts Society. She has been a proud member of American Dance and Drill Team School Staff since 2017 and joined officer camp staff in 2020. She is also on staff with Spirit of America, a role she has held since 2021. After serving as the Mavette Assistant Director in the spring of 2024, Haley is thrilled to be back and looks forward to an exciting and inspiring year ahead with the Mavettes and MJHS Dance Team.

At Crowd Pleasers Officer Camp, the Officers earned many awards. As an officer line, they earned a High Platinum for their Home Routine, Platinum for their Technique Evaluation, Platinum for their Camp Dance Evaluation and Platinum for their Home Routine! They also received FIRED UP team of the day, chosen by the staff! Way to go Os! We are SO proud of our officers! We can’t wait to see how they lead our team this coming year!
