This is the image for the news article titled STEM Testing Postponed To Summer 2020Due to the current school closure through May 4 via executive order by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, testing for the MISD STEM program for the 2020-2021 school year has been postponed until the summer.

MISD STEM Coordinator, Dr. Garreth Durrant, said that all testing for the program will take place at a time when the district can reopen and is under less strict social distancing guidelines.

"We are monitoring the situation and working on an alternative plan," Durrant said. "We will inform (parents) of a new testing date and time when we get the green light to reopen our schools. What we do know now is that there will be no testing while MISD remains closed."

MISD has been closed since March 16 due to concerns regarding the spread of COVID-19 in Texas. Gov. Abbott announced this week that all public schools in Texas will remain closed through at least May 4.
