MHS Winterguard Qualifies For MA Nationals

This is the image for the news article titled MHS Winterguard Qualifies For MA NationalsThe Marshall High School and Marshall Junior High School Winterguard squads swept awards over the weekend at the Rose Capital Regional Competition in Tyler, qualifying for a berth in the Marching Auxiliaries of America Nationals competition later this spring.

Under the direction of Mrs. Crystal Walker, the MHS Winterguard received a “Superior” rating, including a Choreography Award, Best in Class and Winner’s Circle Award, which is the highest award at MA.

MJHS also was rated Superior, with additional awards for Choreography, Best in Class and Judge’s Favorite Award.

Individually, Marshall brought home several trophies in Soloist competition. Mi’Keyla McCray won first place and Flor Montes finished second place overall in the junior division.

In the senior division, Marshall swept the Division I honors with Hailey Herrington (1st place), Sarah Vasquez (2nd place) and Kelsie Campbell (3rd place).

Marshall’s Savanah Potter also finished second overall in the Senior II Division.

Nationals will be held March 22-23 at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth.
