Eleven MJHS Students Advance To State History Fair

Twenty students from MJHS, with 11 different projects, competed in the Texarkana Regional History Fair at Texas A&M-Texarkana on March 10. The theme for the competition is “Triumph and Tragedy,” and Marshall had 11 students finish either first or second in their respective categories which qualifies them to advance to the state history fair.

“We are proud of all of our students who participated in the regional history fair,” said Mrs. Shirley Fletcher, MISD Social Studies Coordinator. “They represented MISD very well.”

Students finishing first at the regional history fair were Rylee Smith (Individual Exhibit) and Levi Ford (Individual Documentary).

Students who finished in second place in their respective categories were Austen Hand (Individual Exhibit); Jolie Bennett, Gavin Carlile, Sloan Carlile and Molly Michael Skinner (Group Exhibit); Jayden Townsend (Individual Documentary); and Patricia Collazo, Mattea Gray and Elyssa Olvera (Group Documentary).

These students will compete at the Texas History Day Fair on April 27 in Austin.
