Marshall was also selected as "Best 5A Band" at the competition, and the Marshall Colorguard was named Most Outstanding Guard for the second straight year.

Marshall advanced to the finals round, which consisted of the top eight bands out of 29 total in the preliminaries. The Big Red Pride finished fourth overall in the finals.

The contest was the first in marching season for Marshall's band, with two more scheduled this month. The big one is on Oct. 16, when the Pride will compete in the annual UIL marching contest in Mt. Pleasant at 4 p.m. The band will also march at the Duncanville HS marching contest on Oct. 20, at 2:30 p.m.

Marshall’s band is under the direction of David Densmore, with assistant directors Christian Guillen, Matthew Anderson, Carlos Maldonado and Callie Mulkey. Crystal Walker serves as Colorguard Director.
