  • FARM CITY WEEK
  • TEXAS FFA ASSOCIATION
  • NATIONAL FFA ORGANIZATION

Marshall FFA's goal is to empower students and ensure they are prepared for college and careers after high school. We believe through agriscience courses at Marshall High School, all students will have the ability to be successful in any career they plan to pursue after graduation.

Students may participate in many aspects of competition through Marshall FFA. Students have the options of showing livestock at local and major levels; participating in Career Development Events and Leadership Development Events and competitions; and attending conferences at the District, Area and State levels.

Marshall FFA is for ALL students! Whether you are also involved in Athletics, Cheer, Band, Theatre, anything...FFA is for everyone. We believe that all students should take Principles of Agriculture their freshman year to determine if FFA is something they are interested in.

WHAT IS FFA?
FFA is an intracurricular student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership. It is one of the three components of agricultural education.

"Future Farmers of America" was founded by a group of young farmers in 1928. Their mission was to prepare future generations for the challenges of feeding a growing population. They taught us that agriculture is more than planting and harvesting - it's a science, it's a business and it's an art.

The letters “FFA” stand for Future Farmers of America. These letters are a part of our history and our heritage that will never change. But FFA is not just for students who want to be production farmers; FFA also welcomes members who aspire to careers as teachers, doctors, scientists, business owners and more.

FFA continues to help the next generation rise up to meet those challenges by helping its members to develop their own unique talents and explore their interests in a broad range of career pathways.

The National FFA Organization embraces the idea of building stronger communities. The last line of the FFA motto, “Living to Serve,” signifies the vital role service plays in our organization.

The Living to Serve platform empowers every student in every classroom to make a positive impact in their community. FFA provides quality programs, resources, recognition and opportunities for our members to put their leadership into action through service engagement.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT EVENTS
Career Development Events build on what is learned in agricultural classes and encourage members to put their knowledge into practice. These events are designed to help a member prepare for a career in agriculture by testing and challenging the student's technical, leadership, interpersonal and teamwork skills as well as their knowledge of the subject matter. CDEs answer the question, "When will I use this knowledge in the real world?"

Many CDEs are qualifying events for the National FFA CDE competition and/or offer scholarship opportunities.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT EVENTS
Leadership Development Events focus on creating situations for members to demonstrate their abilities in public speaking, decision making, communication and their knowledge of agriculture and the FFA organization. Team and individual events are used to reinforce what is taught in agricultural science classrooms.

All LDE events have elimination rounds at the district and area before the state level competition.

SPEAKING DEVELOPMENT EVENTS
Speaking Development Events are designed to develop the ability of all FFA members to express themselves on a given subject. Students are encouraged to develop their communication skills and learn to formulate their remarks for presentation in a variety of situations. The state finals of the speaking development events are held in conjunction with the Texas FFA Convention in July.

FFA EVENTS
FFA events celebrate the accomplishments of members, teachers, and the agriculture industry. During FFA events, members convene, receive recognition for their hard work, and draw inspiration from the ideas and enthusiasm of their fellow members, teachers, and mentors. FFA events include annual State and National Convention, Texas FFA Night with the Spurs, Day at the Capitol, FFA Week, Talent Contest, and more. Click here for more information.
