Ms. Harman was surprised on Wednesday morning by John Howell, Patterson Toyota General Manager and Kristin Skinner of Patterson Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, along with PTY Principal Nakeisha Adams Pegues who nominated her for the award.

“Ms. Harman is the math interventionist on the PTY campus this year,” said Ms. Adams Pegues. “Our fourth grade math classes have had changes this year due to resignations and teachers being moved. With this last resignation, Ms. Harman was placed back into the classroom in order for the students to have consistent teaching while the administration searches for a teacher. Ms. Harman explained how she knew this was what was best for the students. She came prepared and ready to teach our students when we returned from the Christmas Break. She has since then come in and asked to tutor her fourth grade students because she sees a need. She is willing and able to do what is needed in order for PTY and its students to be successful. We appreciate her commitment and love for her job and the students. She deserves this reward without a doubt."

For being selected as Teacher of the Week in MISD, Ms. Harman received a gift check from Patterson Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram as well as a certificate of recognition and balloons.

Patterson has sponsored the weekly MISD Teacher of the Week program since the beginning of the 2014-2015 school year. Campus principals have the opportunity to nominate a deserving teacher from their campus on a rotating basis throughout the year. The nominee is then met on a morning during the week with a surprise visit from Patterson representatives.
