Marshall ISD's Choir programs strive to provide a unique educational experience in which students gain musical skills, a life-long appreciation of music, and have the opportunity to develop individual skills that will help them to be successful throughout their lives.

The Choir program serves students with the ultimate goal to:

•.Provide all students with opportunities to perform a wide variety music of the highest quality

• Present outstanding and successful learning experiences that are cherished for a lifetime

• Develop skillful and entertaining student performers and performances

• Encourage lifelong participation in music and support of all artistic endeavors

• Maintain a learning environment that is safe, healthy, cooperative and conducive to learning

2017-2018 IN REVIEW
Under directors Melissa Hammers and Stephanie Allison, the Marshall High School Choir program continued its long tradition of success and excellence with yet another "Sweepstakes" award recognition at the 2018 UIL Concert and Sight Reading competition.

The MHS Choir program's list of accomplishments this year include:

  • Went from five performing choirs in 2015-2016 to seven in 2017-2018
  • Eight students auditioned for TMEA All-State Choir, an increase over the six from last year
  • Fourteen (14) students were named to the All-Region Choir: Sarah CraigJeremy PattersonD'Sherrick Williams,Jada HookerLevi SmithCarson CarlileSamantha ReevesEster PerezNakayla WillieHeaven WoolenRickey JohnsonDavion WilliamsHilario Espinoza, and Khalil Wallace.
  • Twenty-one (21) students received a "Superior" rating on their UIL Solo and Ensemble at contest. One (1) ensemble received a "Superior" rating.
  • Ninth-grade Sub-Non Varsity Treble Choir received a "Superior" rating in Concert at the G.A.I. Invitational

At Marshall Junior High:

• Sixteen (16) students earned recognition to the All-Region choir in October: Deanndra Jernigan, Brooklyn Summerville, D'Azia York, Madyson White, Suzie Argote, Janiya Irving, Julia Carlile, Ava Chiles, Dixie Gilliam, Camila Arias, Christy Leal, Are'Anna Gill, Juan Vargas, Zachary Lester, Daniel Kezerle and Christopher Rudd.

  • MJHS Choir students earned a total of 54 medals from the Solo and Ensemble Contest held in February in Marshall. These included:
